I'm using the ETM diagram 6300-1, could the brown wire that they spliced the ground to be the cluster/dash light wire? The car has an aftermarket stereo and I checked the ground, looks like it's spliced onto a brown wire in the console. Since all lights aren't working I'm thinking it isn't the bulbs, likely a short somewhere. The AC/heater works, only the light is dead. There are no lights on the center console either (AC control, ashtray, OBC etc.). The back lighting is dead on the instrument cluster. The only lights that work on the cluster are the "check" lights (brake lining, abs, check engine, etc) and turn signal lights. I do appreciate all your posts and suggestions though.Hey, I have an '89 325i with no dash or cluster lights. Thats why Im wondering if theres another fuse or something that might be responsible for all this stuff in the cabin.Īny thoughts or comments? I am really frustrated and am at a loss. but ODD funny) is that all of this happened at the EXACT SAME TIME. To top it off, when I turn on the AC, I don't hear it engage (you know what I mean? When you turn on the AC you can kinda hear it engage up front in the engine compartment). So all of it works, its just not lit inside, plus the gauges are all frozen. You cant hear it going "tick tick tick" in the car when you engage the turn signal but if you get out of the car and look, they are blinking like they should. I checked all the turn signals, hazards, etc and they all work. Is there another fusebox on the car or anything else I can look for? I am so frustrated beyone belief. I also went through the fuses in the glovebox and none of the fuses related to the dash cluster or AC were blown. I did disconnect the battery but it didnt help. Please help me! :bawling:Ĭlick to expand.I'm not too mechanically inclined, so is this fairly straightforward to do? If there's a howto online or something that would rock too. I just cant afford to be lied to by mechanics and ripped off like I feel is happening as we speak. I am just sick over this.Ĭan anyone lend any insight into possible issues? If I can troubleshoot this on my own it would save me so much money right now. How could it all of the sudden develop all of these issues? I just dont get it. I dropped $800 on the starter and am fearing the worst. I just went thru a divorce and financially I am just in sorry shape. Not sure what it is, so can anyone identify it? Perhaps its the cause of all these issues? I dont know. And what the hell is up with the AC? I checked under the car and noticed a wire hanging (took pics. This is how it looks with the car on or off. I've included pics of the dash so you can see. SO I am sitting here thinking WTF is going on?!?!?! I mean, I had a car that was a wonderful car, well kept and loved, and now its falling apart all of the sudden? Am I insane to be thinking foul play? This is making me physically ill even the speedometer, temp gauge, and other gauges freeze in their current state and stopped moving entirely). Then today on the way home from work (keep in mind I've had the car back for a total of 2 days so far), all of the sudden my dash lights go out (the mileage, tripmeter, etc. They told me it might have a coolant leak, and guess what light came on on the dash the day I picked it up? You guessed it. In Las Vegas these parts go quickly due to our climate. Some things I an understand, like hoses, belts, etc. which were put on a few months back) that I suspect is BS. That being said, they tell me it needs all this stuff (one of the things being an air filter, which I replaced myself not TWO WEEKS AGO, as well as telling me I need brakes. never NEVER having a failure mechanically. Keep in mind this car has been a wonderful ride. Well, check this out, they give me a LIST of things that need to be repaired/replaced. Cost me $800 but thats a whole different store haha. I had it replaced at a local shop here in town that deals with Mercedes, BMWs, etc. I own a 2003 325i and the starter recently went out. I've had bad experiences with mechanics so am suspecting foul play for some reason, but let me explain a bit of the actual issue and avoid my suspicions. I am more than frustrated since it JUST came back from having a starter put in. Hello everyone! I have a bit of a dilemma to present to you all to see if any of you have come across something like this before.
